Regulate which foods can be purchased using food stamps.

Created by S.F. on January 30, 2013

Food stamps are intended to provide food for individuals who cannot afford it. I suggest changing the Food Stamp program to be more similar to the WIC program, though not nearly as restrictive. I suggest adding a stamp or mark to foods which are "Food Stamp Approved" to ensure that food stamps are being used for nourishing meals rather than on junk food.
Foods such as candy, soda and chips are luxuries and are not basic human needs. American tax money should not go toward paying for someone to buy unhealthy food, become obese and ill, and then strain the taxpayers further through their health costs. By revamping the system to promote healthy eating choices, we can combat obesity and illnesses related to being overweight.
