reinforce our eastern European NATO allies with military equipment and personnel to deter further Russian aggression.

Created by H.A. on April 16, 2014

In March 2014, Russia annexed the Crimea, a territory of neighboring Ukraine, through use of military force. Russian forces are now massed on the borders of Ukraine and pro-Russian sympathizers are engaged in unrest throughout eastern Ukraine. Ukraine is not a NATO ally, but Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Poland are. Each of these countries are similar to Ukraine in that they have significantly inferior military forces compared to Russia and have large ethnic Russian populations. Additionally, each of these countries have suffered under occupation in the past. They are now loyal NATO allies and look to the United States for leadership and protection. The United States should promplty reinforce these allies with equipment and personnel in a visible demonstration of support.
