Reinstate 18% gratuities on parties of 8 or more in restaurants. Remove service charge!

Created by T.W. on March 17, 2014

I have been a server for almost 20 years. Waiting on a party of 6 or more people requires extra work and often times people don't have a problem ordering up but not leaving a tip to cover the added work and time. Parties of 15 or more require 2 servers and the tip is split. We have 2 tip outs at the end of our shift. Not only are 2 servers assigned but the bus boys, etc. are also waiting on you and the server pays for this even if the customer skips out on the tip. This should NOT be a service charge automatically taxed by the IRS! This is a gratuity for work for several people. I am petitioning that 18% gratutities be allowed to be reinstated as a tip not a taxable service charge.
By the way, we pay taxes on the 18% tip too!!!
