reinstate all rights lost due to a victimless felony conviction following 10 years without further legal involvement.

Created by J.G. on January 27, 2013

For those convicted of victimless crimes, a felony conviction and the subsequent lifetime loss of some constitutional rights is absurd in the extreme. People make mistakes and bad choices, but should someone who has lied on a DMV application in California (a felony) be penalized with the same loss of rights as a convicted murderer? I don't think so and yet these types of things happen every day. Let's set a limit on punishment for those who hurt no one with their errors and let's offer a reward to those who make the changes necessary to live well in society.
