The notion that everyday American citizens have a legitimate need for assault weapons, which are clearly designed for combat use, is insane. At one time we had a ban on these weapons, but that ban expired and Congress has not been able to muster the courage to deal with this issue again--as yet. Only by massive pressure from the American public will we be able to force Congress to take action on this issue.
What is the most likely application for an assault rifle or other gun with a high capacity ammunition clip? We have seen the answer to that question most recently in Newtown, Connecticut. How many more of these tragedies must we endure?
