Guns may not kill people but the fact is that bad people are enabled by guns. Most NRA members support stricter gun laws such as universal background checks, because if somebody wants a gun for legal reasons they can register it by having a background check. As far as assault weapons go, agencies such as the ATF have labeled them as having the sole use of "rapid fire at humans". Also, most police officers are not armed with assault weapons, potentially creating more deaths among our service men and women. Additionally, assault weapons manufactured in the USA have been smuggled into Mexico, fueling the violence and the drug trade just south of our border. Finally, each year more than 30,000 Americans die due to our inability to combat these common sense issues.
