We believe that we are in a state of national emergency due to the proliferation of military style assault weapons among the general public. The numbers of recent deaths and injuries inflicted by these weapons is skyrocketing. It is clear that there are limits to what weaponry civilians can acquire and possess. Assault weapons designed to kill large numbers of people in a short time should be beyond those limits. We believe the President is within his constitutional rights, using the powers of executive order, to protect the public in times on emergency.
