Reinstate the budget for humanitarian missions in Latin America by the U.S.S. Comfort that sequestration has canceled.

Created by W.S. on March 26, 2013

Automatic spending cuts, known as sequestration will strip $4 billion from the Navy’s budget this year. In spite of a reinstatement of some discretionary funds, Humanitarian Missions to Latin America by the Hospital Ship U.S.S. Comfort have been canceled. This mission, “Continuing Promise 2013”, is both a tool of U.S. diplomacy and a vital mission of mercy to our neighbors in the south. The United States enjoys a level of prosperity unmatched in the world. To deprive all of these people of the level of care that only the Comfort can provide is simply a travesty. Please sign my petition and publicize this to bring medical and health services to many men, women and children who otherwise will not receive care. This is every bit as vital as any project of the military industrial complex.
