US Navy personal went to the community to solicit donations from local business for the Submariners Ball. A tradition long held by the Submarine force. Donations were accepted from several local businesses including two local strip clubs. Both the Commanding Officer John Heatherington and the senior enlisted man MTCM(SS) Spindle were relieved of their duties by Vice Admiral Benedict.Being that the local business are all legal and legitimate businesses in the area there is no merit to the actions of Vice Adm. Benedict.
Captain Heatherington is an outstanding officer and has served for 25 years. Something such as this should not tarnish his record.
