Under the ACA, insurance companies are required to cover children, regardless of pre-exisiting conditions, but are not required to offer child-only policies. Because they cannot deny children, they now only offer adult-child policies and are denying coverage to the adult so that they do not have to cover children. This is a financial burden on families who formerly obtained coverage for their children through child-only policies. In AZ, public employees are offered health care plans through their employers (and contribute to the premiums), but dependents are not covered. Teachers are now paying at least $800/mo in preminums if they have to use their school-district insurance for their children. Require insurance companies to offer child-only policies to relieve this burden financial!
