Reinstate COBRA Premium Reduction

Created by D.N. on May 15, 2012

Reinstate the COBRA continuation coverage assistance under ARRA. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provided a COBRA premium reduction of 65% of the premium for eligible individuals who are involuntarily terminated from employment, making health care affordable for the unemployed in this country.

This expired when President Obama signed the new Health Care Legislation. My question is why is this omitted when unemployment continues to be high. This leaves the unemployed without a safety net since the government was paying 65% of the COBRA premium. We keep talking about helping the unemployed and how Americans all need health care but the we no longer provide assistance leaving millions unable to afford health care.
