The Department of Veterans Affairs Health Eligibility Center decided January 17, 2003 to suspend health benefits from what they are calling even today as "Group 8". We are still being denied medical benefits simply because we have incomes above the national means test.
The biggest problem for myself is I was never notified that this was going to happen. I was never sent anything that told me I needed to "sign up" before a certain date to get benefits, as a mater of fact I was already in the system, but was told records showed otherwise.
Being denied medical benefits after serving my country is discrimination, if its only because I eventually started making a good living. There were many years we struggled to catch up after giving years for our country.
