Upon taking office, President Obama weakened the Federal Laws and sentencing Guide lines involving illegal distribution crack cocaine. The old law stated that distribution of 28 grams or more of crack cocaine carried a 10 year to life term. 28 grams of crack sells for 2800.00. That is not "for personal use". Obama changed it from 28 grams to 280 grams. A tremendous victory for crack dealers. Law enforcement often attacks gang violence by targeting narcotics distribution. If these laws are weak, society will suffer as Gangs get stronger, richer and no longer fear our justice system.
Please reinstate the sentencing guidelines to the original levels, the same levels that helped control the crack cocaine epidemic in the 1980s.
