Gary Gensler has worked hard to uncover illegal practices in the banking industry. It was his office that brought to light the Libor scandal. He has continually pushed for tighter and more specific language regulating derivatives and swaps. He wants foreign branches of US banks to abide by Dodd-Frank. These are all common sense things that need to happen. In firing him, President Obama is sending the message that he does NOT want to regulate the banks and banking practices that lead to the 2007 economic collapse. We need very specific language in our regulatory laws that do not allow loopholes and backdoors. We need regulators who will enforce these laws. We need it now. Gary Gensler was this man. Bring him back for the safety of our economy and nation.
