Reinstate the freedom to allow our high schoolers to choose their diploma type. The high school drop out rate in this country is deplorable since the education system feels they can dictate and force all of our youth to take college prep courses in high school. We are setting our youth up to fail as not all are interested in higher education, some may inspire to choose a career path in a technical or vocational trade, some may be interested in a food service career, like a chef or a business career. Since this is a free Country why are we forcing Trig as a required course to graduate when someone may inspire to be a cosmotologist or auto mechanic. Why not aspire to see our young adults complete high school and be equipped with what they will need in their chosen career choice?
