We demand that Monifa Sterling be reinstated in good standing to the USMC as she has been unjustly discharged for freely practicing her religion. We further demand that all efforts to reaffirm the people's right to freedom of religion be made which include but are not limited to removing/disciplining the military officers and court justices responsible for this unconstitutional action.
Lance Corporal Monifa Sterling was discharged for "bad conduct" from the USMC for displaying Bible verse Isaiah 54:17 in her workspace. The military has stated this verse "could easily be seen as contrary to good order and discipline" and therefore were grounds to give a bad-conduct discharge. Court appeals of this decision have upheld this decision as they do not consider it to be a "religious exercise."
