The US Space Shuttle program effectively and efficiently transported people and materials to construct the International Space Station for science research. But the shuttles were retired far too soon for the development of any viable alternative. Now Russian budget problems mean we can't rely on Soyuz either. So, after all the money, time and manpower invested in the ISS, we are faced with shutting it down after just barely completing its construction. Meanwhile China has started their own space station! We ask that the President instruct NASA to rehabilitate one or more of the retired shuttles NOW to enable continued use of the ISS until a viable alternative is built and shown flight-worthy.
