In May of 2016,President Obama and Secretary Perez announced a new overtime rule for salaried workers. For the first time in 12 years someone was finally helping salaried workers get some compensation for long, hard workdays. The "non exempt" status would have raised from 23,660 to 47,476 yearly.Yes,it would have an impact on some small businesses, but other options could have been enacted. There is a good side too.More money in American pockets means more taxes, more money in the economy, and ultimately, more money to be used to pay this increase. Also, the new rule finally gave some protection to salary abused workers. No one should have to work 60 hours for 40 hour pay.9 days before the rule was to be enforced,Judge Mazzant 3rd,ruled this unfair. What's unfair is how salaried workers are treated.
