This petition is will begin a discussion about reinstating parole for Federal prisoners, which was abolished in 1987. The U.S. has more people imprisoned than any other country, including Communist countries with much larger populations! The prisons are overcrowded, and we spend billions of dollars to incarcerate or keep incarcerated people who are not being helped or reformed by the outrageous amount of time they are imprisoned. Prison has become a big business instead of a penal or correctional institution.
