Gas and oil prices are crushing everyday Americans. The world's oil supplies are at an all time high and US oil productions are up 20% yet the price continues to choke the Middle Class. One of the major reasons for this paradox of rising reserves and declining demand is that oil speculators are reaping unprecedented gains from keeping the price high and some are using oil as a second reserve currency. There used to be protections against these practices and the results they cause, but over the past 30 years lobbyists for the oil companies helped push through legislation removing these regulations. We petition the Obama Administration to push for a return to regulation so that speculators and oil companies can no longer make record profits while the rest of America is choking.
