Reinstate Section 181 of the internal revenue code, allowing tax deductions for investments in motion pictures.

Created by A.L. on November 13, 2012

More and more productions are leaving the US to seek out tax incentives and film subsidies in other parts of the world. The United States has the best film crews in the world. We petition that we would like to see Section 181 reinstated and allow productions shot in the US to be rewarded. In turn, this would create more jobs for US film crews.

But it's not just film crews. Many business stand to benefit from production spending in the US. Grips buy lumber from local hardware stores, location crews book hotel rooms, costume departments use dry cleaners, and on and on. One production has the potential to pump millions upon millions of dollars into a local economy within a short period of time.

Please bring jobs back to the US, and reinstate Section 181.
