Sgt. 1st Class Charles Martland, the 11-year Green Beret was ordered discharged after he confronted the alleged rapist of a 12 year old boy, (a police commander he was training). When the man laughed off the incident, he shoved him to the ground. Sgt. Maitland was informed Tuesday that the Army has denied his appeal. Sgt. 1st Class Charles Martland earlier this year was ordered discharged by Nov. 1. He has been fighting to stay in, but in an initial decision, the U.S. Army Human Resources Command told Martland that his appeal “does not meet the criteria” for an appeal. De oppresso liber — the Latin motto of the U.S. Army Special Forces means “to liberate the oppressed.” Sgt. Martland did the right thing and should represent the epitome of what are armed forces should stand for.
