reinstate the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" or craft and implement similar legislation.

Created by J.K. on February 02, 2012

Much of the political gridlock today can be attributed to the polarizing influence of television and (talk) radio broadcasts tailored to one-sided, narrow, sometimes uncivilized, and brazenly partisan interests and the monied denizens which drive, fund, and benefit from the consequences of political, social, and economic division.

It is my belief that either restoring the Fairness Doctrine, or creating something like it to generate a modicum of balance when holding forth in a public forum such as broadcasting, would provide incentive for a more civil and rational discourse without infringing on anyone's first amendment rights whatsoever. Say what you will--just provide the mic for an articulate counter-spokesperson. It is harder to caricature an opponent with whom you have to share space.
