High interest rates are enslaving the poor and middle class, who often have no choice but to finance high-ticket items like tires, home repairs, and medical/dental expenses. Making minimum payments means it may take decades to pay off a balance, which is often all people can afford to do.
The banking industry tanked the economy, was bailed out with our tax dollars, and is now making record profits. So let's roll back interest rates from the 29.9% that is all too common today, and put that money back into the pockets of the working class. That will instantly stimulate the economy, because we'd be able to purchase goods with that money... and it won't cost the Federal government a dime.
