We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Reinstitute the Office of Technological Assessment (OTA) or create a so called 'Department of The Future'

Created by L.M. on July 07, 2016

In 1972 The Office of Technology Assessment was founded. Their purpose was to provide members of Congress and Congressional committees with objective and authoritative analyses of scientific and technical issues. It was a step made to keep Congress from making shortsighted and ultimately destructive policy decisions and to insure that they had some idea as to what they were making policy decisions about. They produced 750 studies on a wide range of topics. The OTA was an unbiased and official provider of scientific and technical knowledge to Congress until it was defunded and shut down in 1995. This paved the way for people like Sen. James Inhofe to throw a snowball onto the floor of the senate as an argument against climate change. I see this as a disgrace and think the OTA is a solution.
