Reintroduce and revitalize state-run mental health facilities in the United States.

Created by G.G. on October 03, 2015

There is no coincidence in the appearance and the recurrence of mass shootings in the United States, as it relates to the closures of our state-run mental health facilities. The result of the current laws, which protect the rights of the mentally ill, is that now it is far too difficult for a family to have a loved one institutionalized. Therefore, parents and relatives are forced to play the role of "household physician", a role which most are not qualified to perform. The re-opening and revitalization of state-run mental health facilities will not only help the mentally ill and their families, it will also employ hundreds of thousands of qualified healthcare professionals nationwide. Granting families easier access to mental health professionals at affordable facilities, is paramount.
