Reinvest in U.S. railway infrastructure and technology to support the economy, sustainability, and American job creation

Created by J.S. on October 03, 2011

In recent years railways across the nation are being dismantled or abandoned, rather than utilized. In our expansive country it is ludicrous that the vast majority of the shipping and transportation needs of our citizenry rely solely on automobiles and commercial trucks.
Modern locomotives are capable of shipping huge amounts of cargo with a fuel efficiency that far surpasses that most current commercial shipping means. Similarly, high speed electric rail systems could improve suburban commutes into our nations cities and interstate travel.
By reinvesting in America’s railway infrastructure this administration could provide job opportunities for Americans nationwide, reduce our demand for foreign oil, and create new industries for high speed rails rivaling similar markets globally.
