This country constitutes only 5% of the world's population, and yet possesses 50% of the world's guns. It is no longer a fact that can be disputed that we have a "gun problem".
Guns are protected under the 2nd amendment. This is not a question. Advances in technology and weaponry have far surpassed even the wildest of dreams of our forefathers. With a rapidly evolving world we need rapidly evolving policy.
This petition is a response to President Obama's call to action regarding Gun Policy. We must ban all assault weapons. An assault weapon should be categorized in the following ways:
1. Any weapon with a magazine capacity over 8 rounds.
2. Any semiautomatic weapon.
3. Any weapon with attachments for secondary weaponry.
4. The elimination of gun show loopholes.
