In 1787 Benjamin Franklin designed a copper penny, called the "Fugio Cent", and it would be good to reissue it as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage the United States possesses. I imagine creating a limited run for circulation would cost a pretty penny, but the engagement with the nation's past would be worth it. This is an example of direct and aggressive education in action. By doing something like this we may create excitement in classrooms as teachers have to explain the origin of the new penny, how it came to be, and who the people were who created it.
Creating these opportunities for conversation are priceless to parents and teachers, please consider a limited run for circulation (not special collections, that helps nobody)
