United Airlines has recently changed it's pet policy. As a result personnel on travel orders, especially military personnel and their families, now have to pay $3900 for each pet. Since the govt has contracts with United, and military personnel are not usually given a choice to change carriers, we ask that you task all government agencies to take immediate action to rewrite and reissue travel orders with carriers that do not have such high charges for pets. We ask that all military personnel be made aware how to request this new carrier change, and to place procedures in effect for future travel orders so that pet costs are considered as part of the overall cost when necessary.
