The Double Jeopardy Clause in the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution prohibits anyone from being prosecuted twice for the same crime. The Italian court wants to get around this freedom by basically stating that the first two trials where a verdict were rendered did not actually happen.
As Americans, we believe that double jeopardy is illegal. The Italian government believes they can keep redoing trials until they get the results that they want. While this is their right as a sovereign nation, we as a sovereign nation, also have the right to reject being apart of it. We the people urge you, Mr. President, to protect her from the flawed, lucrative, Italian court system by denying any request for extradition form the Italian government on Constitutional grounds.
