Reject the Keystone XL pipeline

Created by J.H. on March 20, 2013

The pipeline will put our water supply at risk of contamination from spills like the one in Michigan which is now leading to the dredging of the Kalamazoo River. Energy-intensive tar sands extraction will exacerbate climate change, which has already led to devastating droughts, fires & storms and will continue to threaten our economy & our survival. We may want jobs and cheap energy; we need potable water & a livable climate.

The supply of fossil fuel is finite; we must learn to rely on renewable energy sources. This transition could also create jobs.

We recognize that it's not only government policy which needs to change. We commit ourselves to living in a way that requires less fossil fuel and less environmental destruction as we call on you to reject the Keystone XL pipeline.
