The proposed Keystone XL Project will develop a pipeline that will transport crude oil sands from Canada to Texas for refining. This type of oil releases 17% more carbon emissions, leading us further into global climate change. The President is right: we will not be able to curb our habit over night. It will take difficult decisions. However if we are going to stop our addiction, and stop the runaway train of carbon emissions, we need to say enough is enough. One more pipeline is not going to make or break us, but we need to as a nation make the choice to stop and begin to look ahead to new forms of energy to help our planet thrive. Humans have the ingenuity, intelligence, and strength to move our society in a better direction, and it is about time we used them.
