Somehow, the Keystone pipeline has become a political issue. This should be a science issue. Analysis needs to be done to look at how this project would impact our communities and our land. It seems impossible to complete this type of project without leaks and spills, without noise pollution and without destroying our beautiful viewscapes. An oil pipeline is an outdated technology, a technology we shouldn’t be invested our tax dollars in. It’s not sustainable to put our money into a pipeline which will only be useful for one project. Some have said this could create jobs, but with any specialized project, the jobs will be skilled Canadian workers who are properly trained. They will come into our towns, and the jobs to locals will be temporary jobs with no benefits or good income.
