The pipeline is an essential requirement for development of Canadian tar sands oil -- which is an irresponsible assault on the environment and the health of future generations. Canada has rejected pipelines for this corrosive and highly toxic crude across its soil. The US should likewise resist further tar sands pipeline development. Failing to stop Keystone XL would render the Administration's other environmental policies meaningless.
