Once upon a time the United States led in International Expositions, and what are considered the two greatest World's Fairs ever held were the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, giving millions hope during the Industrial Revolution, with hundreds of inventions coming out of it and visions of what a city could be.
The second world's fair was the New York World's Fair of 1939, with its theme "The World of Tomorrow." This came on the eve of World War II, and during the Great Depression. It offered hope to millions that had no hope in dark times.
We can do this again, and in a world ripe with war, terrorism, climate problems, let's give people hope. We pulled our membership out of the Paris Bureau of International Expositions which regulates them, lets rejoin!
