Release the draft text of the TPP

Created by G.G. on September 15, 2012

The US Trade Representative should release the text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement. This treaty is being negotiated in secret. The lack of transparency regarding the TPP is troubling, especially in light of similar secrecy efforts around the recently-failed Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), which had grave implications for civil liberties and privacy.

The publicly-available information seems to indicate that TPP will similarly have chilling effects on free expression and curtail fair use, an important exception to copyright monopolies.

The refusal to release the draft text gives the appearance of policy laundering and impropriety.

We ask that you release the text to the public and let us judge its merits for ourselves.
