Release "Happy Birthday to You" from copyright, so that all Americans can sing & record this song: http://bit.ly/Avoq

Created by C.S. on February 27, 2013

According to Robert Brauneis's paper, 'Copyright and the World's Most Popular Song' (http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1111624), 'Happy Birthday to You' should no longer be held hostage under a copyright, yet "no one has ever sought adjudication of the validity of its copyright." We the people of the United States of America beseech the President to free this song to all Americans, as it is a fundamental part of our culture and should neither be owned or controlled by any single person or corporation. If this can be done without changing the law, then let's do it. If it means copyright reform, then let's reform copyright (something that is sorely needed in its own right).
