The assumed power of a President to declare someone guilty of a crime, order his execution and have in carried out, all in secret, is antithetical to democracy. With the understanding that there are situations when killing is justified, like in the heat of armed conflict, those situations must not be an excuse for the President to kill "at will". This assumed power will be abused if not stopped now.
