Release the legal rationale concerning the use of targeted strikes against foreign citizens outside of defined war zones

Created by G.R. on December 04, 2013

The use of targeted drone strikes outside of defined war zones creates a dangerous precedent of foreign policy. Our government is engaged in the routine killing of US and foreign citizens without granting them the right to due process or trial. The administration has refused to comment on the killing of Anwar Al-Alwaki and his teenage son, Abdulrahman Al-Awlaki. These two American citizens were not facing criminal indictment or under current investigations. Even if our drone policy has tangible benefits, which is unclear at best, it cannot continue as it currently exists without violating international law. We, the students of John Carroll University, ask the administration to release the legal rationale outlining the use of drones outside of defined war zones.
