In the 1970s, the CIA accumulated a collection of memos documenting activities conducted in violation of its charter, including assassination attempts, journalist surveillance, warrantless wiretapping, and confinement & abuse of a KGB defector.
Upon release in 2007, an entire section of this document was redacted, the first enumerated secret. We request access to this redacted section.
It is evident from the scandalous content of the document that it is important for this era of our nation’s intelligence to become fully transparent, as the veil of national security was used to cover up crimes, not protect our nation's interests.
