SeaWorld continues to risk the safety of humans and animals alike despite the numerous tragedies and safety violations they have incurred.Their captivity methods have involved the mistreatment and death of many animals and the death of a trainer who was seized by a frustrated captive orca, thrashed around violently, and held under water to drown. Such behavior does not occur in the wild.
Some of these animals were violently captured and torn away from their homes, their families being killed in front of them. Orcas in captivity develop physical pathologies, such as the dorsal fin collapse seen in 60–90% of captive males.Their lifespan in captivity is reduced by 50% and their frustration caused them to show aggression.
