Relocate the 101th Airborne Division From Ft. Campbell Kt to Ft Irwin Ca.

Created by A.K. on August 08, 2013

The 101 Airborne Division in Ft Campbell Kentucky should be reassigned to Ft Irwin in California. The topography in Kentucky is more of that of Europe. The topography at Ft Irwin is that of the Middle East. Our soldiers will be training in environments similar to the conflicts we are encountering today.
Ft. Irwin is near the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport Ca. At 10,000 ft, this center has the highest elevation of any in the US. Think Afghanistan. Our troops can move from a desert into a mountain environment in a few hours drive. Even faster by helicopter.
Sen. Rand Paul should understand that with the 82nd Airborne already in Ft Bragg in NC, also has a topography of Europe. Moving the 101st Airborne would create a more diversely trained fighting force.
