It seems like the point of government, as of late, is to argue. And it seems like this is sort of the theme of American life right now.
The fantastic thing about the US is our freedom, especially our freedom of speech. But recently, it's as though we just use this amazing power to yell insults at the opposing side, telling them how dumb they are.
I'm not saying that the arguments should stop. That would be an impossible thing; we are only human. But can't we be reminded that we are ALL only human? That the opponents we are yelling at are all just like us? And just as imperfect? We are all on the same side. We are all fighting the good fight that is life.
Can we not be reminded of this, just once? And can we not use our freedom of speech, not for hate and for anger, but for love?
