Across the United States medical cannabis has been legalized at state level. Currently 18 states in the United States have legalized the use of medical cannabis for the benefits that it provides within the medical community. Physicians across the U.S. have been recommending the use of cannabis for their patients since 1996. The already suffering patient that is prescribed cannabis is subject to federal prosecution for its use which has been proven over and over by studies carried out within the medical field to have medical benefits. It has been proven that many safe methods can be utilized to remedy the ailment that many patients face daily. It has been shown that cannabis has not resulted in fatalities unlike many prescribed drugs that are available to the prescribed public.
