The Pledge of Allegiance is required to be recited before classes in about half of the 50 United States. We believe that the phrase 'under God' infringes upon citizens' First Amendment rights to practice freedom of religion and violates keeping church and state separate. We would like to move to have the Pledge of Allegiance remain intact except for the phrase 'under God'. The removal of said phrase would allow students to still pledge allegiance to the United States without requiring them to pledge allegiance to a religion.
