There is currently a 10-year limit on using Montgomery GI Bill benefits. We all understand how important education is and how the US is falling behind in that area. There is a population of Veterans, who, for one reason or another, were not able to complete full use of their Montgomery GI Bill within that time frame. For many of these Veterans, their GI Bill may be the only way the can ever obtain a degree.
The 10-year time limit should be either eliminated or extended to 20 years. This will only help our Veterans obtain higher-paying jobs, but the country as a whole. It will allow scores of additional Veterans to compete with their civilian colleagues who were attending college when the Veterans were serving their country.
Eliminate the 10-year restriction or upgrade to 20 years.
