This pettition is to create a bill to remove the $110,100 earning cap on social security and keep this fund solvent for decades to come, the middle class rarely if ever reaches this amount in their yearly earning their for pays more of a earning percentage into ssi than someone earning $200,000 ayear..
The Social Security tax rate for 2012 is 13.3 percent on self-employment income up to $110,100. If your net earnings exceed $110,100, you continue to pay only the Medicare portion of the Social Security tax, which is 2.9 percent, on the rest of your earnings.
