remove the 25 year ban on imported cars.

Created by I.B. on May 06, 2015

One of the biggest unnecessary laws America has is the ban on imports that are 25 years or newer. A majority of sport coupe cars that are perfectly legal over there are illegal here, have you ever heard of the Honda Beat? Audi RS2? What about the Toyota Carina? Well probably not considering you’ve never seen one in America and you might not for another 14 years.

The Motor Vehicle Safety Compliance Act of 1988 ended import of grey-market vehicles to the USA. This means America would rather you own a high-powered assault rifle than a Nissan Skyline or a VW Golf City. There is no real reason this ban exists, they say it is because “certain imported cars do not meet America’s EPA/NHTSA requirements”, but then why even allow them after 25 years? If they don’t meet the requirements?
