Remove the ability of the congress to vote on their own raises.

Too many times we have witnessed our elected officials display a complete disconnect from the opinions and wishes of the general public; the public that put them in office to begin with. I propose that they be held accountable to the same standards as the rest of the working population. Raises should only be approved if and when the citizens of the United States deem it fit. If we as a people are truly in this financial crisis together than everyone needs to put something in the coffers to pay down this debt.
